...tribute to ’80s action films

After two albums of would-be Argento soundtracks, Umberto returns with their unbelievable tribute to ’80s action films. The artwork and track titles tell you everything you need to know, as they’re swiped wholesale from Beverly Hills Cop and Ghostbusters. Expect plenty of cheesy MIDI horns, the unfunkiest basslines ever, canned drums, and plenty of Yamaha synth-string. “Put An APB On Those Bastards” starts the album with a classy cop-chase theme, and “Common Street Trash” is an atmospheric love scene (maybe?). On side B, “Going Rogue” is a brief suspenseful interlude, and “Illegal Entry With Intent To Zuul” is a slow-burning horror-filled action sequence. In short, the best record Jan Hammer never made. Completely awesome.

Just want to request that one record you don’t have already stolen from the internet? Or maybe you want to congratulate me with my truly terrible blog and bad tast in music. ...leave me a comment!!!
